VIDEOWENDERS

Wim Wenders is swimming along Lars Von Trier's wake. He has just finished a film with a little mini-DV camera. The Consecrated are getting excited a lot with the cheap video. It's curious that they do it now. They always had the Super-8, however they prefered shooting in 35 mm. What's up with them?... No, nothing is going on. Be calm. What is happening is that, in truth, they are still making 35 mm movies. When Lars Von Trier made his first dogma film, The Idiots, I don't know how many hundreds or thousands video tape hours he used up. Then, he passed ALL the material to 35 mm and EDITED the movie. I don't want to think about how much it was cost. The video is a toy for them. A cool thing, at present. Like as to be rich and become squater. But the stolid industrial locomotive follows the march. Wenders' last film will be shown at theaters, of course. In 35 mm. I bet my sockes' holes.

Wim Wenders sigue la estela de Lars Von Trier. Acaba de hacer una película con una pequeña cámara mini-DV. Los consagrados se están aficionando mucho a esto del vídeo barato. Es curioso que lo hagan ahora. Siempre tuvieron el Súper-8 y sin embargo prefirieron rodar en 35 mm. ¿Qué les pasa?... No, no les pasa nada. Calma. Lo que ocurre es que, en realidad, siguen haciendo películas en 35 mm. Cuando Lars Von Trier rodó su película dogma, Los idiotas, gastó no sé cuántos cientos o miles de horas de cinta de vídeo, las pasó TODAS a 35 mm y entonces MONTÓ la película. No quiero ni pensar cuánto costó eso. El vídeo es un juguete para ellos, algo que queda bien en estos tiempos. Como ser rico y hacerse okupa. Pero la locomotora industrial sigue su marcha, imperturbable. La última película de Wenders también se proyectará en salas comerciales, en 35 mm, por supuesto. Me apuesto los agujeros de los calcetines.
